| Traditional timber flagpoles are white. This is because white reduces the harmful effects of the sun's rays and doesn't highlight the bird droppings often found on flagpoles that do not fly flags regularly.
Aesthetically, white is always acceptable, but in some situations other colours can make dramatic architectural statements. For example, heritage green poles with polished brass ball finials look sensational.
Natural, grey anodised poles, are best by far in sites with heavy road traffic nearby. White poles show the grime deposited by the exhausts of countless heavy vehicles, which detracts from the visual impact of the pole and flag combination. |
