Who We Are

This website and business is operated by the trustee for AAA Australian Flag Poles and Flags, ABN 53 197 154 506, trading as Federation Flags and Flagpoles. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean that business.

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What We Collect

We only collect what we actually need to quote, make and deliver your order.

• Contact details. Your name, phone number, email address and the delivery or billing address for your order.
• Order information. What you ordered, sizes and options, any artwork or specification you send us for a custom flag, and the history of your orders and enquiries with us.
• Payment information. When you pay by card, your card details go directly to our payment processor. We do not see, handle or store your full card number. We receive a confirmation that the payment succeeded, along with the last few digits and the card type.
• Website information. Standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you looked at and the site that referred you.

You can deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym when you are just asking a general question. We do need real details to actually deliver an order.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• quote, process, make and deliver your order
• send you a proof for a custom printed flag and get your approval
• answer your questions and provide support, warranty and returns
• issue invoices and receipts and keep the business records we are required by law to keep
• improve the website and our products

We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We do not use it for automated decision making.

If you have bought from us or enquired, we may occasionally contact you about our products. Every marketing message has an unsubscribe link and we act on it.

Who We Share It With

We disclose your information only to the parties we need to in order to do the job, and only the part of it they need:

• Our payment processor, Stripe. Stripe handles card payments and receives the payment and billing information required to process your transaction. Stripe is based overseas, which means your payment information may be stored or processed outside Australia. Their handling of it is covered by their own privacy policy.
• Freight and courier companies. They receive your name, delivery address and phone number so they can deliver your goods and contact you about the delivery.
• Our email, website hosting and customer record providers. These systems store your enquiry and order information so that we can service your order. Some of these providers store data outside Australia.
• Our accountant and professional advisers, where required.
• Law enforcement, regulators or courts, where we are required or authorised by law.

We do not disclose your personal information to anyone else without your consent.

Cookies And Website Analytics

This website uses cookies. Some are necessary for the site to work, for example remembering what is in your cart. Others help us understand which pages people find useful so we can improve the site.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the necessary ones, parts of the site may stop working properly.

How We Store And Protect Your Information

Your information is held in our business systems and with the service providers described above. We protect it with access controls and passwords, encrypted connections between your browser and this site, restricting access to the people in our business who need it, and keeping our systems updated.

Card numbers never touch our systems. They go straight to our payment processor, which is certified to the card industry security standard.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach happens that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by law.

We keep your information only as long as we need it or as long as the law requires, then destroy or de identify it.

Accessing Or Correcting Your Information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Email service@flagpoles.com.au or call 0400 552 663.

We will need to confirm who you are before we hand anything over. We normally respond within 30 days and we do not charge for a straightforward request. If we refuse a request we will tell you why in writing.

You can also ask us to delete your information. We will do so unless we are required to keep it, for example for tax and business records.

Making A Complaint

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at service@flagpoles.com.au and we will investigate and respond in writing.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page with the date it was last updated at the bottom.
